100 Posts!
These first few months of blogging have been a lot of work, and also a lot of fun. I appreciate all the feedback I have been receiving along the way.
This project serves simply as a way to provide an on the ground look at China showing both the good and the bad, attempting to explore the big picture through conversations with co-workers, students, and random people on the bus, and basing that look more on facts and observations than opinions.
After hundreds of hours of work my only wish is that if you find a post here that you think others would enjoy reading you will pass it on, and if you have a topic or question you’d like me to address I hope you’ll leave a comment or send an email to SeeingRedInChina@gmail.com.

I appreciate your frequent posts, and can tell you put a lot of preparation into them. Before reading your blog and two others, the only interest I had about anything Chinese was ordering take-out! (I wish I were kidding). I have always had a interest in other countries/cultures, but never China…until now.
There are two other blogs created by Americans that I read. (I just started reading Tim’s recently). Between the three of your blogs, I am able to learn something different. Each of you gives a different prospective of the country and its people. I particularly like the way you comment on Chinese history, economics and the country’s changing social structure.
China is rapidly rising and becoming a superpower on the world stage. It’s refreshing to read about it on your blogs rather than relying solely on the media or some biased version of the country from someone’s book or magazine article. You appear to tell it like it is…the good and the bad.
So far I haven’t come across anyone who shares my interest in China, but when I do, I’ll spread the word.
Tom, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your work every day and the views of China that it has given me. Please keep up the GREAT work!!!
I second Pelo’s appreciation of your Blog. Unlike him, I have long had an interest in China. I find that I am learning a great deal from your interesting and informative posts. Please keep up the good work! You have a fan here in the Highlands of Scotland!

Hey Tom, like the others, I really enjoy reading your blog – I’ve been reading it religiously for several months now. I’m an Aussie and China pretty much drives our economy. However, we really don’t understand anything about how things operate in China. I watched the ‘Last Train Home’ the other night and despite everything I’ve already read about China, it still made my jaw drop.
You provide a great prospective on life in China… and I certainly hope you keep it up!
I’m glad you are appreciating the blog. I haven’t seen “last train Home,” but I am looking it up now. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am planning to keep going at this hectic pace for as long as I can keep it up. So far writing 6 posts a week is still seeming fairly easy, even though the total blog is now close to being novel length.
If I may suggest (read ‘please’), maybe you could devote a blog explaining how ‘real’ the scenario portrayed in Last Train Home is…
It seems very extreme in many aspects. Living conditions, social fabric, family relations, focus on wealth vs happiness, views on consumption vs saving in China etc…
I will work on finding a copy of it here, if that proves difficult than I will have to break down and try to actually watch it on amazon.com, not that I don’t want to pay, but because the internet here is so so slow.
